Home Theatre Gets Monochromatic Refresh

With the home theatre seeing a lot more action over the last two years, our client knew it was time for a refresh. Their space felt overly traditional and just plain dated. It lacked the glamour and dramatic flair one seeks when viewing cinematic excellence or watching the latest must-see kids movie.

How We Did It

A monochromatic mood

A home theatre is all about the experience - equal parts moody darkness and cozy comfort. And one of the best parts of interior design is playing with color in big and bold ways.

So how do you achieve this look and feel? The key is a monochromatic color palette and layers of texture to add depth. By keeping the tone rich and consistent, the space takes on the cozy ambiance of your favorite theatre but in the comfort of your own home. Not to mention … this aesthetic feels instantly elevated. A place you want to share with family and friends alike.

The initial space was laid out well and easy to work with so we were able to focus on the details. First, it was time to select a color. This rich and moody custom shade matches both the carpet and wall fabric by Fabricut, for that tone on tone on tone look.

The mix of finishes from glossy paint on all the molding to soft leather and rich fabric to help with sound add depth to this monochromatic palette and amp up the cozy vibe. Even the recliners by American Leather feature the same rich blue shade for ultimate movie watching comfort.

Art Deco accents

The bold, yet simple color palette lends itself to accents that are anything but simple. Gold notes throughout add drama and beautifully contrast against the moody tone. The sleek, gold lights by Arteriors Home are dimmable for the perfect movie watching lighting and feel vintage Art Deco.

The marble side table is yet another functional accent. The soft curve of the legs is a nod to the 1920s, with a classic elegance. The fun of this space is the mix of elements.

Let’s talk

This home theatre mixes centuries seamlessly integrating a vintage vibe into a more modern space without distraction for a room that will be well-loved and used often. Who wouldn’t want to watch the latest blockbuster or a beloved favorite in this home theatre?
